This term we are studying the 'Effects of Growth and Change'.  We will put some work on display here from this COG later in the term.

In the first term this year, we studied a COGs unit called Being Australian.  Below is some information and work samples we have gathered.

We have been studying these Great Aussie icons.

Can you name them all?  Have you visited any or all of them?

Here are some flags we designed that show more about who we are as Great Aussie kids.

Working hard sure gives us an appetite!

Fortunately, we have healthy snack time every morning to keep our energy levels up.

2006 Work

Below is work completed from last year.  We think these samples are too good to delete from our updated web site.

This semester we have been completing Rich Assessment Tasks (RATs) as part of our

Connected Outcomes Groups (COGs) work in class.

Please click on the links below to check out each of our own RAT websites!

Paul's Year 2 RAT work

Just the other day we did a workshop with Numeralla PS as part of a 'working together' unit of work we are undertaking.  We also learnt some tricks to make our writing more real - like a movie in the way we paint the picture for the reader.

Here are some images from our two days of fun!

My mum was driving home in the pouring rain.

The road had just been graded and it was slippery.

The car swung left to right and mum couldn’t keep control.

It plunged down into a ditch, the bull bar hit the

bank and the car rolled onto its roof.        By Ashleigh- Year 4

Every morning at 3am Jane ran to the lake.

She followed a narrow rocky track through the

paddock where the sheep and the cows grazed.

This morning the moon was shining like a

thousand lights on the new frost.

We checked out the local Cooma Library while waiting in town for the Queen's Baton relay.

Healthy minds and bodies are fuelled by good food.  Thanks mum and dad!

We work together to help each other when Mr G is busy with other students.

Did you know?

Before the industrial revolution of the 1890s,humans had only a  moderate need for energy. Thousands of years ago, humans learned how to use wind as an energy source.

A few fish out of water at the carnival  ...         and a fish (or 2) in water later on!

 Oil

Oil is becoming very popular and expensive and it is getting harder to find.  Most of you that have a car would be noticing the prices of fuel  and petrol are outrageous. At Caltex 50 litres costs $60.  Since you are adults you might think differently to me about this.  By Emily Ewart.

Ashleigh's top work from week 8, term 1.

Check out the pics of the energy smart machines we made below.  These creations were part of investigations we made into sources of cleaner and greener energy production, like harnessing wind, solar or hydro power!

The car on the right was powered by kinetic energy.  Mr G and stage 3 made this souped up unit and powered it with postie rubber bands.  When we over powered it, it broke up on take off. After a while though, we got it sorted out just right!
